of Public School Teachers work TWO Jobs!
Public Elementary and Secondary School Teachers
Students across about 4,400 Public Schools.

I pledge to work with the Florida Legislature and the Teacher’s Union to create fair, competitive pay standards that reflect educators’ value and cost of living. This includes regular salary reviews, incentives for high-need roles, and a transparent system that helps recruit and retain strong teachers and staff.

College is not the only path to success. I support expanding career and technical programs that give students real-world experience and valuable certifications. These opportunities create a clear pathway to meaningful, well-paying jobs.

I pledge my support for continuing to strengthen school safety measures. However, safety is not only about outside threats—it also means addressing issues within our schools, like bullying. I support increased funding for mental health resources and promoting a bully-free environment so every student feels safe and supported.

The heart of our schools isn’t the buildings, it’s the people. With high vacancy rates and the 2026 tax referendum on the ballot, we need to focus on recruiting the best talent and giving them a reason to stay in Polk County; Our focus should be on the following:
Strengthen Reading and Literacy Programs
Improve students’ reading comprehension and overall literacy skills at all grade levels.
Teach Financial Skills to High School Seniors
Provide practical lessons on budgeting, taxes, saving, and managing personal finances.
Support and Retain Teachers
Increase resources, support systems, and incentives to help teachers succeed and stay in the profession.
Ensure Financial Literacy for All Students
Integrate financial education into the curriculum so every student graduates with essential money-management skills.
Develop Job Interview Skills
Prepare students with resume writing, interview techniques, and professional communication skills.
Encourage Entrepreneurship
Teach students how to start and manage businesses, think creatively, and solve real-world problems.
Promote Trade Skills Education
Provide opportunities to learn hands-on skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other vocational trades.
